International Polar Year

Topic: Antarctica

Antarctica is a uniquely hostile and remote environment with no permanent residents. It is a place where scientists from all over the world work together. The International Polar Year (IPY) aims to raise awareness of both the Arctic and the Antarctic regions.

 Getting started:

  • Teachers: please read "For the teacher".
  • Create an entry about your team in the Introductions glossary.
  • Click on your login name to update your group's profile with a brief description and an image relating to you or the group.
  • Check out the links in the Research section (Section 1).
  • Participate in as many activities as you can in Section 2.
  • Write a blog posting about what you hope to get out of participating in this project.
  • Look at the discussion topics in the General Forum and contribute some replies (Section 3).
  • Add to the wiki (Section 4).
