Share your thoughts about the Beijing Olympic Games in a new forum here.

Purpose:
To increase understanding about the country of China and its culture in the context of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

To facilitate student exploration of the human rights issues surrounding China and the Olympic Games.

Key Questions:
Where is Asia? Where is China? Where is Beijing?
What differences exist between China and Australia?
What questions would you ask of an Olympic athlete?
If you went to the Olympic Games in Beijing, what Chinese words and phrases would be useful?
What would happen if someone wanted to have a new sport included in the Olympic Games?
How would you feel if you were an Olympic athlete about to participate in a major event?

Activities best suited to use on an IWB will be marked with the symbol iwb

STUDENTS

  • Go to http://mashable.com/2007/09/12/avatars/ to find a free tool to help you create and save an avatar (image to represent you online).
  • Create your OzProjects profile with a description and avatar. To do this click on your login name at the top right of the main page and choose "edit your profile"
  • Introduce yourself in the Introductions Forum. Describe your avatar in English and then in another language if you are learning a LOTE.
